Michael Grant, PhD
Since 1995, Dr. Grant has been a faculty member at Memorial University of Newfoundland in the Division of BioMedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, where he studies the immunology of HIV infection.
Dr. Grant completed a BSc in biochemistry at the University of British Columbia followed by an MSc in Microbiology and Immunology under Dr. Hoffmann’s supervision. During his MSc research, he was introduced to Idiotypic Network Theory in general and the Symmetrical Immune Network Theory in particular. He earned a PhD in Molecular Virology and Immunology from McMaster University and then returned to Vancouver for postdoctoral research with Immune Network Research Limited and the department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia.
He was a National Health Research and Development Program AIDS scholar, Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Investigator and Canada Foundation for Innovation Researcher. Dr. Grant currently serves as Chair of the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Advisory Committee and member of the CIHR Institute for Infection and Immunity Advisory Board.
